Single storey extension to create new study, store & enlarged kitchen area

To two storey detached property in Portishead.

    Brief

    To create a new multi usage attached space primarily to be used as a study but also as potential guest bedroom space with en suite. Also to improve the existing kitchen in terms of size and light all whilst not compromising the flow of the ground floor layout.

  • The Design

    Proposals & design features

    The design incorporated features such as corner glazing and full height bifold doors with rooflights throughout bringing in large levels of light to existing and new spaces. The angled wall to the kitchen / sitting area connected the spaces together but did not compromise the external patio area or the flow of the internal spaces. The structure over the corner window is cantilevered and as a result no corner post is present and would allow the future installation of a frameless window.

  • The Result

    Aesthetics & materials

    A combination of new render and horizontal fibre cement boarding was utilized on the external elevations. Dark grey aluminium windows and doors complimented the materials.
